30 days of Christmas Inspirations – Day 3

Isn’t it nice to be able to do some crafts for the holidays, maybe to give as gifts for your friends or for children in your family – things they can keep for years to come, remembering that you took the time to make something for them?

Finished Friday – Starhook Case

It's been a while since you probably saw anything crochet coming from this blog, but it's been a rough couple of months. There's little time to sit down and when I do, it's because I'm actually collapsing from exhaustion. While Bruno and Tony were in their surgeries, I had some time to kill and some nerves to calm so I was able to do some crocheting. I FINALLY finished a case with a new stitch that I learned from the same blog where I picked up the pattern

Multi-Purpose Crochet Thingies

This should have been a Finished Friday post – however, I started this little project on Saturday when my husband and kids were taking a nap. I was able to finish them relatively quickly, amidst the visits and jaunt to the park with the kids later in the afternoon. Originally, I got the pattern from Molly Makes but when I was done with them, I saw so many other uses […]

Out With the Old…

It’s been getting harder and harder to write lately. Mostly because I take care of my boys in our somewhat-kind-of-childproofed house. I say somewhat because my husband, the architect / arteeest ha specifically requested that some installations just cannot be moved / protected. This includes our heater / furnace, various outlets and wires, a large glass aquarium with sharp edges filled with smaller glass bottles amongst others. And despite mine, […]

Masterpiece Monday

well, okay, I don’t know if it’s a real masterpiece, but it’s MY masterpiece! Hey I just finished my first baby granny square blanket. It took me a month, working almost every day for 15-20 minutes each day.  Sometimes less, sometimes more. I started it thinking of a friend far, far away who announced recently that she’s pregnant with her first child. I’m so excited for her, and I’m so […]

Crochet Me a Dishcloth!

Well, well, well, this week, I actually did finish something.  I was trying a new stitch I learned, using half double crochet and slip stitch alternatively to create this lovely pattern.  It’s now a dishcloth! Yaaah!

Work In Progress – Finished Gloves

So I finished the mittens for my friend Mariana’s birthday – just in time! She really seemed to like them!  They were really easy to make, and the stitch is really close together because it’s a herringbone half double stitch – my first time using that stitch! I’m so proud of myself!

Fingerless Gloves

This is my fourth attempt this morning to write this post. My parents are visiting and the boys are keeping busy running after the children this morning – however sometimes they need help too.  Anyway, next week is my friend Mariana’s birthday and I had the idea to challenge myself to crochet something I’ve never made before, which I must admit is a lot, since although I started crocheting around […]

First Flu Shots for Everyone

Well, yesterday was their first birthday and now we’re back to reality.  We got our flu shots.  I actually never had a flu shot.  In Chicago, I never got the flu. Colds, yes. Sinus infections due to my colds, yes.  But the flu, never. Here on the other hand, ugh. I don’t know if it’s the extra dose of smog that we have here, but I labor much more to […]
